St. George's Day

Saint George is thought to have been born into a noble Christian family in the late third century in what is now modern-day Turkey. As a soldier and officer in the Roman army, he refused to denounce his faith and persecute fellow Christians, leading to his martyrdom in 303 AD. Legend has told that Saint George slew a dragon to save a princess, the King’s daughter.**

A feast day of St George has been celebrated in England for hundreds of years on April 23, which was possibly the date of his martyrdom. Following the Battle of Agincourt in 1415, St George’s Day became one of the most important feast days in the English calendar.**

Join us to celebrate this Saint on Sunday, April 28!
