Lenten Series: What is Truth in a Fake News World?

  • Kleberg Hall St. George's Episcopal Church (map)

Join us on Wednesday evenings during Lent. Each evening will include a prepared meal of soup, bread, and wine; Eucharist around a common table; and a message by the Rev. Dr. Stephen Kinney, Director of The Front Porch Project, a mission of All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Austin. Our topic for reflection and discussion is What is Truth in a Fake News World? There is no need to bring anything except yourselves, with open hearts, minds, and souls for a different worship and communal experience.

The Front Porch brings people together from all over Austin through a weekly “public house church,” music and cultural events, and dialogue. After serving as youth minister, chaplain, and rector in schools and parishes in Houston, New York City, and Fredericksburg, Stephen and his family moved to Austin, where he earned a PhD in Educational Psychology with a focus on dialogical relationships (dissertation: Sustaining Marriage in a Post-Traditional, Postmodern World), led a regular family service at St. David’s Episcopal Church, taught at the Seminary of the Southwest and UT as an adjunct faculty. Stephen is currently the President-elect of Interfaith Action Central Texas (IACT). He is married to Gwen, a licensed therapist, and father of Matthew, Kathleen, and Tyler. Apart from drinking beer and coffee in pubs and cafes, Stephen likes to catch fish and grow vegetables.
