The school year will soon start up again at the Seminary of the Southwest, which means that we are once again welcoming several seminarians to serve and worship with us for the next academic year. August 26th will be their first Sunday with us. Lauren Kay is returning for another year at St. George’s, and Nelson Mendoza is also joining us. Be sure to say a word of welcome when you see them!
The seminarians serving at St. George’s are participating in field education, part of their required curriculum at the seminary. Field education connects the classroom and the church, integrating academic learning with the practice of ministry. In supervised ministry settings students practice acts of ministry and reflect on those actions. They test their call, gain self-awareness, develop relationships, and acquire pastoral and leadership skills.
